Introduction

Problématique et Research Question

The RM should be a literature review on how to do research. The same referencing style should be maintained throughout the thesis, i.e. Harvard. Use Google Scholar to obtain references already in a given format.

Théories employées

The RM should argue why certain methods are used and not others. It should show how weaknesses of one method are compensated by strengths in another method.

From a defense: “No methodology – needs lit rev of research methods. No application of any methods evident either.”

Quant or qual depends on how much you already know, or how much is known. It also depends on access to companies for interviews and on having a large target set of recipients. For interviewees, look to the corporate relations group, ieseg network, job adverts to get hold of HR people that could give you contacts with people in specific roles.

Your first two interviews should be very open, few questions that are open – why, how, explain the past, present and future; not yes/no or how many. In the lit look for surveys – if they all ask the same questions, it is very mature – only updates of new survey data. If they all ask different things, or there are few surveys, the subject still is new and much is left to explore. Despite that, it is still possible to learn new things even if there are lots of surveys. Paradigm shifts, reengineering, reinvention.

Interviews – they give you their time, what are you going to give them in return? Copy of your final thesis usually works. If a survey, copy of the final analysis.

You know how to get a job, it is the same set of skills. Letter of motivation – you, me, us. You have situations and problems/challenges. I’m working on this. Payoffs for us both to collaborate. Let’s talk.

Did you do Research methods and seminar in MSC Year 4? If so, review that material. My older version of that course can be accessed using this link: https://iesegnet-my.sharepoint.com/:f:/g/personal/d_newlands_ieseg_fr/Emb9NPdH7thFttNyjRfn4ywBZTa8FygttgeYALkopaq4Iw?e=V9Fdmq
